Training at the College of Lake County

We also provide training through the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois.   There are three classes currently offered, CAD179, CAD279 and ARC 216.   The CLC web page is at http://www.clcillinois.edu

ARC 216: Architectural Illustration using 3ds Max

This is an advanced 3d rendering class, focusing on architectural renderings.  CAD 179 is a suggested pre-requisite for this course, although no prior knowledge is required. For 2008 we use the book "Realistic Architectural Visualization with 3ds Max and mental ray" as the text for the class, along with other tutorials covering modeling, lighting and rendering. A final project is a large part of the class assignment.

Sign up early, as the class size is limited to 22.

ARC 216 meets from 6pm to 10pm on the designated days. This class runs in the Spring semester once a week.  There are two hours of lecture and two hours of lab each evening, with additional lab time available on campus.  Classes are at main campus, in the Technology Building.

CAD 179: Computer Graphics and Animation using 3ds Max

This is an introductory class that starts you out at the very basics of the 3ds max program and takes you all the way through to animating objects, cameras and special effects.  We use the New Riders book "3D Studio MAX 6 Fundamentals" as the text for the class, and we cover topics in the entire book in the 16-session course.  This is more than you will get from most other 3ds max training seminars.

CAD179 meets from 6pm to 9:50pm on the designated days. Summer classes run twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, over eight weeks. Spring and fall classes are once a week.  There are two hours of lecture and two hours of lab each evening, with additional lab time available on Friday and weekends.  Classes are at the Technology Campus, which is a separate building at the north side of the main campus, just south of Washington street.

CAD 279:  Advanced Animation and Rendering using 3ds Max

This is a continuation of the CAD 179 class, and we delve deeper into topics such as NURBS modeling, Modifiers, Advanced Materials, Animation (including IK), Architectural Applications and Rendering, among other things.  We use a variety of books, and students have more input on the types of things they would like to learn and do.

The advanced MAX class will commence this fall at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL.  There are two hours of lecture and two hours of lab each evening, with additional lab time is available on Friday and weekends.
